Doubly Fruitful

One of my many favourite bible characters is Joshua.

I think it’s because, although he was raised up in the harsh slavery environment of Egypt, he was able to rise above that and become the leader who led the Israelites across the river Jordan and into their Canaan land that flowed with milk and honey.

He never allowed his past to dictate and to determine what his future would be like.

I do believe that this is one of the keys to living a fruitful and successful life.

During the 40 years of Israel’s wanderings in the wilderness, Joshua served as a faithful aide to Moses.

It was during those years that Joshua imbibed the faith of Moses and learned about the realm of the supernatural - the realm of faith that defies reason and logic.

It is no wonder, that when Moses came to choose his 12 spies, Joshua was included in that reconnaissance team.

He was from the tribe of Ephraim which means “to be doubly fruitful and productive.” And he was the son of Nun, which means “perpetual.”

When you combine these together it means that there was a “perpetual double fruitfulness” or a “perpetual multiplied fruitfulness” about his life.

I don’t know about you, but I like that!

It tells us something about the heart of God for you and me.

God doesn’t want you blessed today and then in a state of barrenness for the rest of the month.

No, God desires for there to be a perpetual blessedness, a perpetual fruitfulness over our lives, so much so that when we are dead and gone, that same perpetual blessedness can be passed on to our children, even as far down as to the third and fourth generation!

That’s how much God loves you and me.

We have declared 2016 to be the “year of multiplied fruitfulness.”

And you may well start with sporadic blessings here and there, but what you may not realise is that these sporadic blessings soon begin to add up.

And what may have started as something small, has now gained momentum and multiplied in your life.

I am joining my faith together with yours to believe that 2016 will be a year of multiplied fruitfulness in every area of our lives.

Are you ready to see God’s multiplied fruitfulness manifest in your life?

Will you join your faith together with mine and believe it to be so?

Then so be it!
