Hebrews 12:1 tells us that if we are going to run God’s race, we must be absolutely certain to lay aside every weight of hindrance.
And last week I mentioned that there is indeed a difference between weights and sin.
This week I would like to discuss one of the many reasons it is so important for us to loose every weight.
And you don’t even have to be a rocket scientist to figure this one out.
But sometimes the obvious just needs to be stated.
Isn’t it just like that in life?
And sometimes we just need to be reminded how simple and yet practical the Gospel message is.
But friends, it’s true; weights will definitely slow you down.
The more weight you carry, the slower you will go.
And the slower you go, the more time you will need to run the race.
One of the most valuable resources given to every human being on this earth is TIME.
And everything in life is acquired in time.
We all do what we do within the framework of time.
There’s a time to be at work.
There’s time to have tea break.
There’s a time to have lunch.
There’s a time to read the Bible.
There’s a time to go to the bank.
There’s a time set for a doctor’s appointment.
Basically, everything in life is confined to TIME.
Paul writes to the church in Ephesus reminding them to “make the very most of the time [buying up each opportunity], because the days are evil.” (Ephesians 5:16 Amplified)
“Make the VERY MOST of the time,” is what the apostle Paul says.
Why?
Because you can never buy back time.
Think about it for a moment.
You can always buy more cars.
You can always buy more food.
You can always buy more vacation packages.
In fact, there are so many things that you can always buys more of.
But you can never buy back more TIME.
And what’s more, you can never RECAPTURE time spent.
As I was preparing this message, the Holy Spirit whispered something in my ear.
He said to me, “John, you will never ever in your life, have today over again.”
That may seem obvious to you but I tell you it hit me like a ton a bricks!
In other words, once today is over, it’s over.
Friend, you don’t have all the time in the world to do what God has assigned for you to do on this earth.
You only have a certain amount of time and it is shorter than you think.
Time is in fact a resource but it is a different kind of resource.
Because you can’t buy it.
You can’t rent it.
You can’t borrow it.
You can’t even store it.
You can’t save it.
You can’t renew it.
You can’t multiply it.
All you can do is spend it.
And the amazing thing about time, unlike other resources, is that we all have been allocated the exact amount of time.
And your time is YOUR LIFE.
You are the only one who can spend YOUR time.
And how you spend your time reveals what you value in life.
I want to encourage you today:
Lay aside every weight in your life that would slow you down and begin to make your time count for God.
There is no one else like you that has been called by God to do what only you can do.
Time is life’s currency which continues to flow regardless of how we use it.
But one thing is for sure, if used wisely, it has the power to unleash your God-given purpose and destiny enabling you to live a fruitful and fulfilling life.
DECLARATION:
I will make the very most of my time giving the Holy Spirit every opportunity to work His divine plans through my life.
