The Wine of the Holy Spirit

On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.

Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding.

And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.”

Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.”

His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.”

(John 2:1–5 NKJV).

I always love to read this story because, for me, it is a continual reminder of two things in life:

            (i) Life is full of challenges

(ii) It’s how you respond to them that really makes a difference.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; being a believer does not exempt you and me from life’s challenges, trials and tribulations.

In fact, this is what Jesus had to say about it:

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”(John 16:33 NKJV).

Jesus is telling us here that challenges are inevitable, and that sooner or later they will come our way.

However, I have discovered some things about challenges, irrespective of whether they exist in our marriages, our businesses, our finances, our careers, our ministries or simply in our everyday walk with God.

Firstly, if you compared your troubles, or challenges, with those of others, you would surely find that there are those whose troubles make yours look like minor inconveniences.

Isn’t that the truth?

Secondly, and as difficult as it may be, I always try and purpose to be thankful for each new challenge.

You ask why?

Because these challenges, if anything, will build and strengthen you as a person.

And thirdly, challenges are an opportunity to test you and to raise you to the next level in God.

Our job is NOT to get rid of the challenges, they are there and they will come, whether we like it or not.

Life is just like that, but our job is to ensure that there is always the wine of the spirit in our lives.

I have purposed in my heart to be thirsty and hungry for everything that the Holy Spirit has to offer, even if it makes no sense whatsoever!

I never ever want to run dry and face life’s challenges, without the wine of the spirit.

There is a reason why Jesus told His disciples to tarry in Jerusalem until they were endued from on high with the Holy Spirit.

He knew that they would be no match against life’s challenges without the power of the Holy Spirit.

And today, is no different, we so need the wine of the Spirit in our lives.

When you have the wine of the Spirit in your life, then it hardly matters what life throws at you, because God will always show you the way to overcome that challenge.

I want to encourage you today friend.

Don’t face life’s challenges in your own strength, you don’t have to and besides you won’t make it.

Instead, make sure you are full of the wine of the Holy Spirit and allow the fullness of God, His power and might to be your strength.

That way, nothing you face in life will be impossible for you.

PRAYER:

Thank You Father for the wine of the Holy Spirit that enables me to be an overcomer in every area of my life.
