The Great Commission and You
“And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.” - Matthew 24:14
This word from Jesus today reminds us that the gospel (good news) is about the Kingdom. When the kingdom of God is preached the King, who is Jesus, is proclaimed. When the Christian church began the preaching was about Jesus crucified, risen and alive, and this was demonstrated with signs, wonders and miracles.
Paul the apostle said, “I am not ashamed of the gospel of the Lord Jesus for it is the power of God unto salvation”. This gospel is to be proclaimed throughout the whole world, demonstrated by the power of the Holy Spirit.
There must be a witness to every nation. In a measure this is happening as never before with the airwaves, via radio and television covering the earth with the gospel. However, there are nations that have not been witnessed to, and this shall be done before the end comes.
Why should many hear the gospel more than once when there are so many who have not heard it once? What a challenge it is when you ask yourself “what am I doing to get the gospel to the nations?”
It is interesting that within a period of a little less than 40 years the gospel was preached in all the nations of the Roman Empire. Before Jesus returns, and the end of this age (which we call the age of grace and the age of the Holy Spirit) the gospel will, and must be preached, to all the nations of the world.
Dear heavenly Father thank You for the privilege of being a co-worker with You in the extension of Your kingdom in the world. Show me how I can fulfil this great commission for the gospel to be preached to all the nations, in the name of the Lord Jesus.
