“When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside.” – Matthew 13:19
Many people will mock and scoff at you when you try to tell them about Jesus. They all have an opinion about religion or even the Bible.
The evangelist Dwight L Moody was once travelling by train when a stranger accosted him.
“You’re Mr Moody aren’t you?” he said. Well, let me tell you, sir, I don’t like your methods.”
“Really?” said Moody. I’m not fully satisfied with them myself. Tell me, how do you win souls?’
“Oh,” said the man in some confusion, “I don’t.”
“In that case,” said Moody, “I prefer the way I do it, to the way you don’t.”
People may not like to hear the gospel, but we have a duty to fulfil the Great Commission. It is our task to tell others about the loving sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
We are to be like a farmer who diligently sows the seed in the ground. Some of those seeds may not germinate and produce anything and so it is the same with the sowing of the gospel.
We tell people the Good News and when it is received with an open heart it will bear much fruit. Sadly, for some, the seeds of eternal life will be lost.
You don’t have to be eloquent in speech to witness to sinners. Just tell them what happened to you when you gave your life to Christ.
Dear Father God, I praise Your mighty name and give You thanks for Your grace and favour in my life. Help me today, to tell someone the Good News that Jesus is alive and loves them.
