“The Lord said to my Lord, ‘Sit at My right hand, till I make Your enemies Your footstool.’” - Matthew 22:44
Jesus speaks of Himself, as being “Lord”, and that He will sit at the right hand of His Father. When He rose from the dead He ascended far above principalities and powers and He sat down at the right hand of God, a place of power and authority, for all power has been given to Him.
When Stephen, one of seven young men chosen to serve in the early church, was being stoned to death, he being “full of the Holy Spirit”, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God and Jesus at the right hand of God. Stephen, despite the stones being thrown at him, says, “I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God. Jesus stood, I think, to welcome the first Christian martyr into heaven.
The Bible says that Jesus is seated at the right hand of God until His enemies are a footstool for His feet.
His enemies are our enemies and must be subjugated and under our feet, for we represent Him as believers on this earth. We are to enforce the victory that was won at Calvary. Through the church He will defeat every enemy, and then the final enemy, which is death, will be defeated at His coming.
Today you must not allow circumstances, or the problems you face, to get you down. You are to be above and not beneath. You are the head and not the tail. Today assert your authority in Christ over all the power of the devil. Rebuke and resist the enemy of your soul and all that the devil may try to bring against you.
Dear heavenly Father thank You for the triumph and victory of the cross and the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven and so that I may I walk in victory until Jesus returns to rule forever.
