Eternal Value

“For what profit is it for a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?  Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” - Matt. 16:26

When God created the first man, He took soil and formed a physical body. He then breathed into that body and man became a living soul.  We are created spirit, soul and body, “three in one”.

The body is the means by which we live in this present world. With five physical senses we come in contact with a physical world.  With our eyes we see this world, with our ears we hear, with our noses we smell, with our tongues we taste and with hands we feel this present physical world.

Through our spirits we come into contact with the spirit world which consists of God who is spirit, the Holy Spirit, Jesus, the son of God, angels, including Satan or Lucifer, and all the demonic spirits.

The soul of man embraces the intellect, will and emotions.

The soul and spirit are those parts of us that are immortal and eternal. The soul is the real you, not the body that is subject to aging and death, but the soul will never die. Its value, therefore, must be equated with eternal value. The soul is more valuable than all the gold in the world.

God placed such great value on our souls that He gave the most valuable thing He had, His only begotten son.

Jesus placed such value on the soul that He suffered death on a cross, was buried and on the third day He rose from the dead. He defeated Satan and all the powers of darkness because of the value He placed upon the soul.

The soul can never be satisfied with wealth, fame or popularity, it can only find satisfaction in God. It was made by Him and can only be satisfied by Him.

Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for providing salvation for my eternal soul. I surrender my will, my intellect and emotions to You today to fulfil Your will. Help me to spend time on the wellbeing of my soul and feeding my spirit with Your Word in meditation and prayer.
