“For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened.” - Matthew 24:21-22
The days of creation were six in number and on the seventh God rested. God says a day with the Lord is as a thousand years and a thousand years as a day.
From creation to Abraham was a period of 2 000 years, and from Abraham to the death and resurrection of Jesus was a period of 2 000 years. Then from the resurrection of the Lord Jesus to His coming again will be a further 2 000 years completing a period of 6 000 years.
Then there follows a day, 1 000 years, which will be the Sabbath day of rest, the millennium, when the kingdoms of this world become the kingdoms of Christ.
The time of great tribulation, which will happen before the coming of the Lord Jesus, is drawing near. Two thousand years from the death and resurrection of Jesus brings us to the year 2033, but Jesus was born in 4BC, so, from Jesus’ death to His return, fulfilling the six day period, brings us to 2029. However, Jesus warns about date setting for His return and we do not know the precise day or hour, but we certainly can calculate that it is drawing near for His triumphant return.
Remember Jesus said unless those days of tribulation are shortened, no flesh will be saved. This can be understood, in the light of the many weapons of mass destruction and germ warfare capabilities, which the nations of the world now hold in their arsenals.
We look up for our redemption draws near!
Dear Father in heaven help me today to be busy about Your work, witnessing and demonstrating Your love to those who have not yet been saved. Thank You that Jesus’ return gets closer everyday.
