“Do not think that I come to destroy the law, or the prophets? I did not come to destroy, but to fulfill.” - Matthew 5:17
The laws of God, as given to Moses, and passed on from one generation to the next, and the prophets who spoke as the mouthpieces of God, their prophecies recorded as the word of God, were well known by all.
Some were under the impression that Jesus had come to annul the sacred word of God, the commandments and words of the prophets. But all the signs pointed to Him and the prophets prophesied of Him. He was the fulfilment of all. He is the word that was made flesh and dwelt among us.
Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil and become the fulfilment of all the dreams and aspirations of fallen man. He is the realization of it and through it the provider of eternal salvation for humankind. He gave us the perfect gift of salvation.
By fulfilling all the requirements of the law and all the prophecies Jesus is more than able to keep, protect and provide for those who accept Him as their Saviour.
Dear Lord, You who have begotten me to a lively hope; to You is all glory, honour and praise. Your word is forever settled in my heart. I yield to its authority and know it will work mightily in me as I walk in obedience to it.
