Worship and Serve

“Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’” - Luke 4:8

The devil is a fallen arch-angel and as such it is believed he had specific duties and functions in heaven before he fell from grace and was cast out.

When the devil confronted Jesus during the temptation in the wilderness, he desired that Jesus would worship him and pay him the homage that he craved. Jesus however replied with the word of God.

There is a divine DNA in all of us that desires to worship and Jesus points us to the exclusive claim that is made on us by God.

In heaven there is continuous worship. Angelic beings bow in adoration and worship. The redeemed from every nation worship Him. Angels do not rest and are continually saying “Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come”.

There are the 24 elders who fall down before Him who sits on the throne, and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and casting their crowns before the throne they say “You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power, for you created all things and by your will they exist and are created”.

John, in Revelation 5, from verse 11, says, … and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the living creatures and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice, “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom, and strength and honour, and glory and blessing!” And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying; “Blessing and honour and glory and power be to Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb for ever and ever.”

Dear heavenly Father, I give You thanks, adoration, praise and worship from my heart. Help me today to serve You diligently with all my heart.
