“Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me remove the speck that is in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the plank that is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck that is in your brother’s eye.” - Luke 6:42
To see a tiny splinter in someone’s eye while you have a large piece of timber in your own eye is comical and ridiculous. Jesus gives us this picture to show what hypocrisy is all about.
Jesus helps us to examine our lives, our attitudes and behavior in the light of His word so that we become aware of our own short comings. Hypocrisy simply is professing to be what you are not really. Acting out and living a lie “play acting”. Why, live a lie, when you can and should live the truth.
To solve the problem of hypocrisy is simple. Remove the large plank that is in your own eye and then you will be able to help others.
Hypocrites usually have a lot to say and are usually very self-opinionated. But people soon see through the veneer and don’t take them too seriously.
So stop living a lie and be the truth. You can never help someone else while you yourself have a problem that is glaringly greater than others. Finding fault with others, noting their shortcomings and failures is relatively easy. When you ensure that your life, in word and actions, is a clear example of integrity then you will earn the right to speak into other people’s lives.
Dear heavenly Father, thank You for helping me today to represent You, manifesting Your love and kindness and being an example of the truth, in Jesus’ name.
