“And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive your trespasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.” - Mark 11:25-26
To stand and pray was nothing unusual in Bible times. It does not show less reverence than if you kneel, sit or even lie prostrated while praying. It is the attitude of the heart when praying that is more important than the position of the body.
It is important to take special note about what Jesus said about forgiveness. You cannot pray effectively if you hold on to grudges and entertain thoughts of resentment.
Always be quick to forgive those who have said or done things against you. You cannot afford to carry a grudge against anyone. Forgiveness is important and vitally necessary for your heart to be right with God. As long as there is unforgiveness in your heart your prayers will be merely words spoken without achieving any results.
Our Father in heaven pardons us on the basis that we have forgiven. This is serious and cannot be glossed over. If you desire God’s forgiveness make sure you keep a clean slate with others.
Jesus speaks of “your trespasses” which is a deviation from truth and righteousness. Make sure today that there is no one that you have not forgiven, no matter what the wrongs were and how long ago it may have happened.
Dear Heavenly Father, today I choose to forgive and live a life of continual forgiveness. Thank you for your forgiveness today.
