“For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s, will save it.” - Mark 8:35
Life is transient - it quickly passes. It is like a weaver’s shuttle, fast in its operation. It is like a puff of smoke that appears for a little while and then it is gone. It is like water poured out on the ground, which soon disappears.
Life physically consists of days, months and years, and ultimately comes to an end here on earth. To hold on to the things of this world, with the hope of keeping them, is foolish, for ultimately you lose them. You cannot hold on to them because everything ultimately goes to dust.
By faith, release everything into the hands of the Lord; submit your life into His hands. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path. Establish His Lordship in everything. Lose your life in Him and for the sake of the gospel. The proclamation of the gospel, making this of utmost importance, investing your life in it by means of time and finance will mean the saving of your life.
It is an investment in eternal values. It is placing greater value on eternal than on temporal and material things. After all, we must remember, that we can only take two things with us when we die. They are the word of God, that can never pass away and endures forever and, secondly, it is people who are eternal - they will live forever. We lose our lives in these two things for His sake so that others will inherit salvation and eternal life.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for Your life within me as a believer. For Your sake and the sake of the kingdom, I give my life, my utmost for your highest. Help me to see the eternal value of working in Your kingdom.
