At God’s Right Hand

“It is as you said. Nevertheless, I say to you, hereafter you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven.” - Matthew 26:64

The High Priest asks whether Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. Jesus says, “It is so,” and affirms that He will be seated at the right hand of God the Father in a place of great authority and power and will return with power.

Instead of a joyful response the High Priest tore his clothes and accused Jesus of blasphemy and the religious leaders present agreed that He deserved to be put to death. Despite their much vaunted knowledge of the scriptures they were blinded by the Truth that stood in front of them. They refused to acknowledge Him and His universal authority.

Ever since then people have argued about the authority and divinity of Jesus. They question Him, but refuse to accept His offer of salvation. It’s like saying I hate chocolate, but you’ve never tasted it.

So many people reject Christ without ever doing what He says, which is simply to admit you are a sinner in need of a Saviour.

Jesus, through His death and resurrection defeated totally the works of the devil and ascended far above principalities and powers, having finished the mission the Father gave Him to do.

He is the only mediator between God and man.  All things have been put under His feet and He is Lord of all - all authority and power in heaven and on earth has been given to Him.

We are to enforce the victory that He won until He returns.  As blood-washed saints we walk in His strength, but also in His meekness and His love for a lost and dying world.

Dear loving heavenly Father, thank You for every provision of Your love. Thank You for my position of authority in the Lord Jesus today. Help me to walk in victory over every sin and temptation.
