Watch Your Actions

“He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave me no drink; I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me; sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’” - Matt. 25:41-43

This verse is a sombre warning and a reminder that our actions are always under heaven’s scrutiny. There is no action that goes unnoticed.  In this scripture Jesus is dealing with those who have not only been cold-hearted, but have also rejected the gift of salvation.

What a sobering statement about the fate of those who turn their backs on Jesus and the poor. Their fate is everlasting hell.

Jesus makes it clear that there is no middle ground. You are either with Him or against Him. The Bible says there is a broad road and a narrow one. There is everlasting punishment and eternal life – hell and heaven. The choice is ours.

God never forces Himself on anyone, compelling them to go in a certain direction. No person is forced into heaven or hell. It’s a choice made while we are living on this earth, but it’s a choice that will last forever.

For Christians these words should challenge us to live a circumspect Christian life and not to neglect doing good and helping those who struggle to survive without even the bare necessities of life. When we stop and help those who are poor and needy we are, in fact, doing it for Jesus.

Dear Lord Jesus thank You for Your love which is shed abroad in my heart today. Help me to walk in Your righteousness and to be ready to help those in need today.
