Sheep and Goats

“When the Son of Man comes in His glory and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him and He will separate them one from another as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left.” - Matthew 25:31-33

Jesus now sits at the right hand of God the Father having been exalted to the highest position in the universe. He has all power and all authority. When He returns He takes the position of judge and will judge the nations. Everyone will appear before Him to give an account of deeds done in the flesh while on earth.

This is extremely sobering. Every person who has not been born again will appear before Him and judged according to the faithful records of heaven. Judgement will be passed and eternal punishment administered.

The goats represent those who are unsaved, who are not born again, while the sheep represent those who are the children of God and who are born again. They will be judged and rewarded according to their works.

Every day we need to remember that there is a day of reckoning coming when we will be rewarded according to our works. The sheep, His children, will be in favour on His right hand, while the ungodly will be on His left hand in disfavour.

Dear God and Father, thank You for Your blessing and favour. Thank You for writing my name in the Lamb’s book of life and that I do not have to fear eternal punishment.
