“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!” - Matthew 23:37
The words, from Jesus today, are one of concern. God, through the years, had sought to bring reconciliation to the Jewish people but they refused to obey Him. He had sent prophets to speak to them and now finally His Son, but they refused again to come to God.
Prophetically Jesus sees the awful destruction that is going to come upon them but they refused to come to Him. But with the warning of impending judgement, Jesus still shows the loving heart of the Father in wanting to protect and save His people by sweeping them under His wings, like a mother hen.
He reached out in love and great compassion but they refused to accept and acknowledge Him.
Understand today that God can never do anything against your will. You come to him by your own decision or you don’t. Our safety and eternal destiny depends on our response to His desire to gather us to Himself.
His desire is for a more intimate relationship with you. For how long must He call and reach out to us before we respond to Him. Press in close to His heart today. Refuse to draw back in disobedience which opens up yourself to the awful consequences of not responding to His love.
Dear heavenly Father thank You Your love and compassion. Thank you that You care for me and You do not want me to suffer. I give myself to You again in full surrender. Thank You for your loving protection for my loved ones and me today.
