Love Your Neighbour

“You shall love your neighbour as yourself.” - Matthew 22:39

Jesus again emphasises the importance of love. To love is to be an expression of God for God is love. He does not love, but the very embodiment of love. This is His nature. To see God in action you see love in action.

By love we show our true colours as professing to follow the Lord Jesus Christ. “For by this shall all men know that you are my disciples.”

Firstly, it is necessary to love yourself before you can love your neighbour. Some people may have a problem doing this, but if you have truly accepted Jesus as your Saviour then he pours heaven’s love into your heart, making it possible not only to love yourself, but to love even the unlovable.

Endeavour to see everything today through His eyes, the eyes of love. Whatever you do, try to do it all through His love. You may be misunderstood, criticised, rejected, but just keep on showing love.

Love is the most powerful force in the world and faith works by it. Fear is dispelled by it, “for God has not given us a spirit of fear but of love and of a sound mind.”

Ask yourself, what can I do, and upon whom can I shower love today? Look out for an opportunity to find a hurt and be instrumental in healing it. Look out for a need and see if you are not able to fill it. Today is a new day in your life, filled with God-given opportunities, not to be selfish, self-centered and grasping, but instead to reach out to others in love.

Dear heavenly Father, Your love is beyond human understanding; You love me with an enduring, unchanging love.  Help me today as you love through me to show Your love to a dying, needy world.
