“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
– John 14:27
Many years ago a movement swept America and spilt over into many others countries. It was the age of Flower Power with slogans like, “make love, not war”. It was a time when young people were searching for spiritual experiences and also a world where everyone would be at peace.
But like all of man’s efforts to make a peaceful world it failed. Instead it produced a careless and promiscuous lifestyle and the phase passed away.
Many international leaders have tried to forge a more peaceful world. Many wars have been fought and millions have perished in efforts to preserve peace. In fact, the United Nations was formed in an attempt to avoid wars and to try and make earth a more peaceful planet. The United Nations has made valiant attempts at keeping peace, but violence and wars still plague the nations of the world.
But despite the turmoil and the threats of terrorism, crime, violence and economic upheaval we are not moved, because although we live in this world, we are not of this world. We are pilgrims passing through on our way to the eternal peace and love of heaven.
Dear Father in heaven thank You that despite troubles and violence all around us that we are hidden in the cleft of the Rock, the Lord Jesus. Thank You for Your divine peace that rules and reigns in my life and in my family. Help me to be faithful until the Prince of Peace returns to the earth
