Spirit Of Boldness

Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. And when He has come He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness and of judgement…” – John 16:7, 8

There is an amazing advantage for living under the New Covenant. In the Old Testament times the Spirit of God only came upon a few people for specific tasks, but under the new dispensation the Holy Spirit is our Helper in all situations 24 hours a day.

He is there to comfort us in times of distress and He is also there to empower us when confronted by the works of the devil.

Just look back into the pages of the Old Testament and be encouraged by what the Spirit of God did and accomplished when He came upon certain people.

When the Spirit came to Moses, the plagues came upon Egypt. Look further and we see that when the Spirit came upon Elijah, fire came down from heaven. Gideon felt weak and useless, but when the Spirit came upon him God’s people gained a great victory. Look at Joshua when the Spirit came upon him. He and the people of Israel marched around the city of Jericho and the fortress walls collapsed and the city fell into his hands.

Jesus promised us the Holy Spirit so that we could live fruitful and powerful lives as a testimony to the resurrection of the Lord.

All that is asked of us is that we should be faithful in taking the gospel to everyone we meet. The Holy Spirit will perform the miracle in the hearts and lives to those whom we witness.

Dear Father in heaven, thank You again for the Holy Spirit who guides me each day through Your word and who gives me boldness to witness and to pray for the sick. Thank You for Your power in my life.
