“You are mistaken, not knowing the scriptures nor the power of God. For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels of God in heaven. But concerning the resurrection of the dead have you not read what was spoken to you by God, saying, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob?’ God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.” - Matthew 22:29-32
Jesus answers the question that was asked about life after death, especially about marriage. He says that we will be like the angels, not become angels, but like them who neither marry nor are given in marriage.
Jesus further leaves us in no doubt about life after death. All of us must die sooner or later, it is a fact, and cannot be avoided. But death is not the end of existence, although it is something that many fear.
The main corner stone of the Christian faith is the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. He was crucified and certified dead and buried, but on the third day He rose from the dead.
This glorious fact sets Christianity apart from every other religion. Jesus died but he rose from the dead and is alive forever. God says He “is” not “was” the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob; He is the God of the living and those old saints are very much alive today in Heaven. Jesus further said, “Because I live you shall live also”.
The Bible does not teach re-incarnation or that life ends at death. If you believe with all your heart on the Lord Jesus Christ and receive Him as your Lord and Saviour you receive life within your spirit. When your body dies you, that part within you, which is your spirit, will go on living in His presence forever.
If you have not done so yet trust Him with all your heart and you will experience heaven before you get there.
Dear heavenly Father thank You for Your love, Your life and Your presence today. Thank You for the assurance that I have eternal life and do not fear death.
