“Yes. Have you never read, ‘Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have perfected praise’?” - Matthew 21:16
Today we notice the importance Jesus placed upon praise. Little children praising Him of whom He said, “Of such is the kingdom of God”. Yes, we are to praise Him in everything. We are prone so often to praise Him only when we receive something good and we feel good.
Whatever the situation we find ourselves in we should praise the Lord. We do not praise him for the bad things and thank him for them, such as cancer or financial loss or a devastating tornado or flood, thinking these things are from Him. In everything, though, we praise Him and give Him thanks.
When Jonah was in the belly of the big fish he prayed and prayed but there was no response from God but when he gave thanks to God the fish spat him out. When Paul, the apostle, and Silas were in jail with their feet and hands securely locked, it was a very grave situation indeed. But at midnight they began to sing praises to God. The prison shook, their stocks that held them fell off and they were free.
Today start by praising Him and whatever happens or situations you may find yourself in praise him - give Him thanks. Refuse to complain and find fault, especially blaming God for things. Thank Him for this new day, for the wonders of His creation. Thank Him for His word, His saving grace, His healing and keeping power, and “let everything that has breath praise the Lord”.
Dear heavenly Father I give You thanks for Your great love and that You shower me with Your blessings. Thank You for salvation through the blood of the Lord Jesus; thank You for Your keeping-power and grace; thank you for Your word. Thank You for my family and friends, for my church and supplying all my needs today.
