“Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.” - Matthew 18:3
Jesus says that change is necessary in order to enter the kingdom of God. When something is converted it is changed from one thing to another. A garage can be converted into a small apartment; a chair can be converted into a bed. One must be converted to enter the kingdom of God, to come under God’s authority and to have His righteous peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
This change is not brought about by your own good works but by the supernatural workings of the Holy Spirit. It is a change that affects your entire way of life. It is a new way of living as you live in obedience to Him.
Jesus uses little children as an example of what we should be like. He is not saying we should be childish but like little children. What are little children like? They are very trusting and will believe almost anything you tell them. They are dependent on their elders for their safety, security and support. They speak to us of humility not of pride and arrogance. A child is an example of simplicity, faith and humility.
Take Jesus’ word to heart today and purpose to be more childlike. The kingdom of God is too important to miss because of my self-will, unbelief, stubbornness and arrogance. Jesus is not talking about being sure of going to heaven, but coming under His kingship and his rulership. Unless we are like little children this will never be so. His Kingdom is where He is king? Is He your king, does He rule over your life today? If not make sure He does today.
Dear heavenly Father I come to You in the name of the Lord Jesus. Thank You for Your kingdom established in my heart and life. Help me to walk today in childlike faith, trusting and obeying your precious word.
