“So my heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses.” - Matthew 18:35
Jesus said that the person that did not forgive was handed to the torturers until he paid all his debt. Now what does Jesus mean by saying that this is what his heavenly father will do to those who do not forgive others?
We understand that God is not a torturer, for every good and perfect gift comes from God; however when we are not willing to forgive this opens the door to torturers who are evil spirits.
By an act of our free will, in not forgiving, place ourselves in the hands of demons. They will torture mentally and physically as long as we refuse to forgive.
Maybe your spouse left you; you are owed money, it may be an awful thing that happened, and because of the hurt suffered we say, “I will never forgive” or “I cannot forgive”.
Well that person, according to Jesus, has placed him or herself in a position of torment and will remain in distress until they forgive.
Are you suffering in your body today? In James 5:16 God says, “Confess your trespasses to one another and pray for one another that you may be healed.”
Continual mental anxiety and depression is a torment by evil spirits. We are not to give place to the devil by refusing to forgive. Why suffer the torture by demons when you can be free by simply forgiving. Although it may be difficult and the devil will try to stop you choose today to forgive. If you need to forgive pray this simple prayer.
Dear God my Father in the name of the Lord Jesus and through His precious blood that was shed for me I ask You to forgive me and cleanse me from all my sin and help me to love and forgive others today. I resist and rebuke the devil in the name of the Lord Jesus.
