Pay your Tax

“What do you think Simon? From whom do the kings of the earth take customs or taxes, from their sons or from strangers? ... Nevertheless lest we offend them, go to the sea, cast in a hook and take the fish that comes up first. And when you have opened its mouth, you will find a piece of money; take that and give it to them for Me and you.” - Matt.17:25, 27

Being taxed and paying taxes is part of our lives although at times we are tempted to complain but this is a requirement by Government of its citizens.

It was a requirement by the authorities in Jesus’ day and when the taxes were due He sent Peter to catch a fish. One can understand that it would require more than one fish caught on a hook and sold by a fisherman like Peter to pay the taxes for two people.

Peter simply obeys, although in the natural it does not make any sense, but he has been told that money sufficient for their taxes would be in the fish’s mouth. Peter catches the fish and there probably to the astonishment of the tax collector the tax money is in the fish’s mouth.

What He tells you to do in the natural may seem foolish and seemingly impossible for a miracle of supply to happen, but with God nothing is impossible.

The tax money to meet both Peter and Jesus’ need was in the mouth of the fish. It was sufficient without any surplus after the need was met. Remember He supplies our need not our greed. Trust Him today to supply all your financial needs however pressing or whatever they may be.

Dear Lord Jesus thank You for every good or perfect gift that comes from You. I know that You are able to supply all my needs today according to your riches in glory.  I rebuke, in Your name every spirit of poverty and fear that comes against me today and I thank You for providing my every need.
