“For the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.” - Matthew 12:8
There are those who meticulously keep and set aside Saturdays as the Sabbath and cite the command to “keep the Sabbath day holy”.
The argument prevails to this day, either to keep a Saturday or a Sunday as holy days to God. If the law is to be adhered to then all the requirements of the law, pertaining to the Sabbath must be adhered to. Should we not then set aside Saturday as the day of rest and worship?
Sunday became the day of rest and worship because Jesus rose on the first day of the week and so Christian came together to worship on the first day of the week. Christians continue to this day to meet on Sundays.
The apostle Paul warns in Galatians 4:9-10, ”But now, after you have known God, or rather are known by God, how is it that you turn again to the weak and beggarly elements, to which you desire again to be in bondage. You observe days and months and seasons and years.”
Those who are Christians do not bring themselves into bondage under the law, and do not set one day above another, but worship God in spirit and truth at all times, recognising Jesus Christ as Lord.
Dear Lord Jesus, You are above all and You are worthy of my praise and thanksgiving. Thank You for Your love and Your blessings that is new every morning. I trust You to direct me and help me in all my ways today.
