“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.” - Matthew 13:44
Jesus stresses the importance of the kingdom and of obtaining it. This kingdom, of which He is King, and rules over, is of paramount importance.
It cannot be ranked in second or third place in our priorities in life. The above parable urges us to make every effort and sacrifice to gain it because it is of such great value. When discovered make sure it is secure and set about acquiring it permanently at all cost, even if need be, to give up what you have to obtain it. Nothing must stand in your way to getting and keeping this valuable treasure and making sure that you truly possess it.
The kingdom of God is not meat or drink, but righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. This spiritual treasure is worth more than all material wealth and the scripture urges us to put it above everything else in our lives.
Is the kingdom of God this important to me today? Am I prepared to place the kingdom of God in its rightful place? In all of my pursuits today, where is the kingdom of God? Am I chasing after material or temporal things? Or am I seeking the kingdom of God and His righteousness knowing full well that good things will be added to me?
Dear Father in heaven I understand today how important your kingdom is and I ask You to help me today to put Your kingdom above everything else. Please rule over my life and direct my ways today, in the name of the Lord Jesus.
