Guard Your Heart

“Hear and understand: Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.” - Matthew 15:10-11

Jesus rectifies the insistence that certain foods, which are eaten, defile a man. He says it is not what enters the mouth that defiles the man, but it is what comes out of the mouth that defiles. The mouth, by words spoken that flow from the heart, defiles, therefore, it is imperative that a watch be set over the words of our mouths.

Our words express what is in our hearts. A person only needs to speak and you can soon tell what the heart is like by what they say. Vulgarity, bad-language, hate, unkindness are given expressions by our speech and are an indication of the contents of the heart.

Words spoken, either justify or condemn, either build or destroy. Out of the heart flow the issues of life, for as a man thinketh in his heart so is he.

Get your thinking in line with the word of God today and allow it to live within you. Allow His word to dominate your thoughts.

The Bible says that “Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world”. It also says, “My God shall supply all my needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Jesus is not only in me today but He is for me and no weapon formed against me today shall prosper because the word declares that “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Dear Lord Jesus, thank You for Your love, Your goodness, Your faithfulness and Your presence today, for with You and through You I can do all things today. Thank You that my thoughts and words are directed by Your word in me.
