“Either makes the tree good, and its fruit good; or else make the tree bad, and its fruit bad: for a tree is known by its fruit.” - Matthew 12:33
It is very obvious that an apple tree is known as such by the apples it bears or whatever fruit a tree bears; it shows what it really is. Jesus tells me today that I am really known by the fruit I bear. What kind of fruit am I producing?
Paul, the apostle, in Galatians 5:22, says that the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and self-control. These are fruit of the recreated spirit and the very nature of Christ, which should be in us, and a manifestation of His life through us.
Fruit is not like a gift that you tie on a Christmas tree and receive in an instant - perhaps it is more like a camera or a DVD player that you need to learn how to operate. Fruit does not come instantly but grows and takes time to develop.
Yield to the Holy Spirit today so that these precious and wonderful fruits may grow and come to maturity in your life so that others may see Jesus in us.
Dear Lord Jesus, I ask that You may be seen in me – all the fullness of the fruits of the Spirit may be displayed in my daily relationships. Please let the fruit of my life be revealed to everyone I come into contact with today.
