“Behold, a sower went out to sow…some seed fell by the wayside…some fell on stony places…some fell among thorns…but others fell on good ground…he who has ears to hear let him hear.” - Matthew 13:3-8
Jesus explains that the seed sown is the word of God. It fell by the wayside and the birds ate it. If you hear His word, and do not understand it, the devil steals it away.
The seed that falls on stony ground has no depth and when it begins to grow the hot sun withers it away. There is not much root, no stability to endure trials, or persecution, so when receiving the word of God he cannot stand and fails.
The seed that falls among thorns is a person who hears God’s word, but the cares of life and the deceitfulness of riches chokes the word and he becomes unfruitful.
The seed that falls on fertile ground is likened to a person who hears God’s words, understands it and the result is faithfulness.
Place importance on the word of God today. Do not neglect it but read it, meditate on it and seek to obey it with all your heart.
The result will be a productive, satisfied life, being fruitful to the extent of 30 fold, 60 fold and 100 fold. Make sure you are an attentive hearer and doer of God’s word.
Dear heavenly Father, I thank You for Your word that is established forever. Heaven and earth can pass away but Your word will endure forever. Help me today to hide Your word in my heart and readily to obey it. Today I know You will help me to resist every temptation of the devil and overcome them. I thank You for helping me in whatever adverse situation I may have to face because I am grounded in Your word.
