“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one, and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” - Matthew 6:24
Where do my loyalties lie today? Jesus says it is between God and mammon. Is it materialism [money] or is it God?
Money does play a big part in our daily lives. We work and receive payment for our labour or are in business to produce and acquire money. Naturally, the more money we have the more we can do with it and there is nothing wrong with making as much money as you can.
The question is, do I love it so much that I am prepared to sacrifice my health, loving relationships, my spiritual life and more, to get it?
The test of money is this: does it control you, or do you control it?
What is the amount of time I spend making money in comparison to time given to God? I must endeavour to love the Lord with all my heart, all my strength and my entire mind.
Dear Father, in the name of the Lord Jesus, I surrender my ability to make money to You. I know Your will is that I prosper, even as my soul prospers. All the money that You give into my hands, that I am a steward of, I will pay a first fruit into Your kingdom and give as you direct me.
