“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock and it will be opened to you: For everyone who asks receives; and he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks it will be opened.” - Matthew 7:7-8
Some years ago we as a church were trusting God to open the way for us to acquire land on which to build a sanctuary to seat 5 000 people. We believed this was the instruction of the Lord to us.
Estate agents were commissioned to seek out land close to the city. They returned, after some time, and emphatically said, “There is no available land, we have looked everywhere.”
These were leading estate agents who were part of our church leadership. I was disappointed, I was sure that God had told us something that must come to pass.
That night God spoke to me in a dream: “You don’t have because you don’t ask. Ask that your joy may be full.”
Immediately upon waking in the morning, I asked, began to seek again, and persistently kept knocking.
It was only a few days later when we were offered a large tract of land beside the main freeway at an unbelievable price.
It was an answer to our asking, seeking with all our hearts and remaining persistent in our faith.
Dear Father forgive me for trying my way to do Your will. I know that when I ask, You respond as a kind Father and all my needs shall be supplied.
