“Therefore do not fear them. For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, and hidden that will not be known. Whatever I tell you in the dark, speak in the light; and what you hear in the ear, preach on the housetops. And do not fear those who kill the body, but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” - Matthew 10: 26 – 28
Beelzebub means “lord of flies”, a guardian deity of the Ekronites (2 Kings 1:2) but used by the Jews as an epithet (nickname) for Satan. The name may have been a mocking Hebrew alteration of Baal-zebul, a local arch-demon of Palestine and Syria.
For Jesus’ enemies to allege that He was possessed by Beelzebub was the worst kind of blasphemy imaginable (Mark 3:22).
Yet Jesus didn’t care about these accusations. He knew the truth because He is the Truth.
As a Christian you need to learn to stand for Him and stand against popular world opinion. Don’t grovel in darkness and listen to lies that will deceive and destroy you. Rather be a witness for the truth than a lie.
Today Lord Jesus help me not to listen to lies that are spoken over my life and help me to not be afraid. I know that you are my rock and my salvation. Let the light of your word envelope me so that the devil doesn’t put me in darkness and distress.
