Don’t Patch but Renew

“No one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; for the patch pulls away from the garment, and the tear is made worse.” - Matthew 9:16

This is a graphic illustration of the consequences you face when you try to patch an old garment. It does not improve the situation by merely patching, in fact it becomes worse.  There must be a total renewal - for if any man be in Christ he is a new creature, old things have passed away and all things have become new.

Making good resolutions or deciding to turn over a new leaf: making what seems to be good and new, to change your life, is adding the new to the old and will only lead to frustration and no real change.

A new garment is needed. You must put on Christ and allow Him to be Lord of your life. Merely adding certain Christian virtues without a change of heart is not going to benefit anything. When Jesus comes into your heart, your life will change completely, and you will be a new person in Christ. If you have never opened your heart to Him and made Him your Lord, do it today.

Dear Lord Jesus I surrender my life to You today and submit to Your Lordship over my life. Forgive me for trying to patch up my life. Today I choose to allow You to make me a brand new person, to live for You and allow You to direct my life.
