“But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man, who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.” - Matthew 7:26-27
When a lighthouse is built to protect ships from a dangerous coastline, it is not built on some beautiful sandy beach. The beach may look beautiful, but can it stand the battering of the winds and the waves? It would be foolish.
Instead the foundations of a lighthouse are embedded into the rocks that have withstood the force of the seas for hundreds of years. The beacon of light is built on a sure and firm foundation.
Storms in life do come and they test the stability of the structures of our lives. Faith comes to us by hearing His word and by its application there is strength and solidarity.
Reading your Bible and absorbing the word is the way to cement your life with Christ so that when a challenge to your faith comes, you will stand firm. The waves may dash against the rocks, but the rocks do not move. Is your faith as sure and certain as that?
Dear Lord Jesus thank You for Your word, which are words of life. I know that Your word will never pass away for truth cannot fail. I take Your word to heart today and by Your help I will be a doer of Your word.
