“You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorn bushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit; but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down, and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them.” - Matthew 7:16-20
What kind of fruit are you producing - is it bad or good? By this we are known, not by our outward show that is superficial, being religious and pious. The language we use, the habits we have, the company we keep, the places we visit, will reveal the fruit we are bearing.
Let us examine our fruit in the light of Jesus’ words today and purpose by the help of God that we will bear good fruit that lasts for eternity. A fruit tree bears fruit according to what it is. Fruit cannot be tied onto a tree; they are produced and grow to maturity.
Therefore, we allow the fruit of the Spirit, love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness, meekness, self-control to grow to maturity and manifestation in our lives.
Dear Father in heaven, thank You for the Holy Spirit who comes to live in us and through the new birth we become new creatures in Christ Jesus and from this new nature, within us, will flow fruit that reveals a change of heart, in Jesus name.
