“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’” - Matthew 7:21-23
His word today calls for self-examination for it seems impossible that a person can do such great miracles in His name and yet be rejected. He can be called ‘Lord’ but is He really Lord?
Does He control your thoughts, your words, and your actions? Is He really Lord of all? But how can signs and wonders take place if He is not Lord? It is because God honours that name that is above every name, the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, but if He is not Lord in the life of the individual He is rejected in that day.
Although there is a profession of allegiance to Him the submission to Him is not real. Doing the will of God is to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and to confess that He is Lord, and submitting to His perfect will.
Dear Father in heaven, I confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, and submit myself humbly to do your will. Help me to be a doer of your will so that You will be able to say to me ‘Well done good and faithful servant’.
