Believe Now

“I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him [Lazarus] to my father’s house, for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.” Abraham said to him, ‘They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.’ And he said, ‘No father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ But he said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.’” - Luke 16:27-31

When we read this story further one is struck by the arrogance of the rich man, despite the fact that he is suffering the torments of hell. During his life on earth he had been used to being served hand and foot by servants and has the audacity to treat father Abraham like a servant. First he asks Abraham to bring him water and then asks that the poor beggar be sent back to testify to his family. His character does not seem to have changed at all except that he shows concern for his brothers.

People must understand today that the unbelieving person will not be convinced, even if someone returned from the dead. Jesus was raised from the dead, with many infallible proofs, yet millions of people do not believe it.

The infallible word of almighty God is our anchor and our security.  Our faith and trust is in His word. We should know God’s word from cover to cover because it cannot fail in what it says it will do in our lives and heart.

His Word tells us where we come from, why we are here and where we are going to? God never sends anyone to hell but the choice is left to us. One of the most precious gifts that God gave us is the freedom of choice. We have a free will. We can choose to love and serve God or we can turn our backs on Him.

So having made the right choice to follow Jesus your next desire should be to win your family and friends to Him so that they, too, will share heavens joy with you.

Dear Father, thank You for providing eternal life through the Lord Jesus and the cleansing power of His blood. Help me today to share my faith with others.
