“Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise, you have no reward from your Father in heaven. Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly.” - Matthew 6:1-4
Be sure not to boast about your giving to the work of the Lord. It is a temptation, but it is a test of your attitude in giving to God’s Kingdom. Are you giving to impress or are you giving because you love God and his work?
God sees our every action and knows the inner most thoughts of our heart and giving, according to his word should be done cheerfully and without any fanfare. Remember Jesus was impressed by a widow who gave very little, but he saw her heart.
Dear Lord I delight to do Your will and to give is a joy. Because I love You, I give not to be seen by, or honoured by man, but to do Your will and help extend Your kingdom. Thank You for Your favour and Your blessing.
