“It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.’” - Luke 4:4
Food is necessary to sustain our physical lives, we must eat to live. Advertising, cook books and dozens of television shows assail us daily with the tempting dishes of delicious food. This is also followed by hundreds of books and debates on the best way to lose weight and how to diet. There is a popular saying that “you are what you eat”.
I think that we could apply that saying to the spiritual realm as well. Many believers are running around like spiritual skeletons because they spend very little time in God’s word. They grab a quick “snack” on Sundays and think that will see them through the week. Try doing that in the natural and see how far it will get you.
Then there are the “obese” believers. They spend a lot of time in God’s word, hopping from one conference to the next, but they never exercise their faith or put God’s word into action.
Be sure today that as particular as we are about our diet and eating habits to feed our bodies, so we need to be very conscious about our spiritual needs.
Every word of God is important and needs to be fed to the spirit man.
Evaluate today how much time you are giving to feed the human body in comparison to the time given to feed the spirit within you. The word of God is quick and powerful and can never pass away. God and His word are united and inseparable
Make sure to give the word of God its rightful place in our daily lives so that our spirit will be healthy and strong.
Dear heavenly Father, thank You for Your word through which You have revealed Your plans for us. Help me always to give Your word a place and time in my life so that I will be well nourished on Your word
