“Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance." - Luke 5:31-32
A doctor is a very needy help in the time of sickness. When well and healthy there is not much thought given regarding a doctor. But when we experience sudden, unknown pains or get hurt in an accident and get badly cut or break some bones, we need a doctor.
The doctor is well trained and equipped to deal with any physical ailment. Those who are well physically, Jesus reminds us, have no need of a physician but only those who are sick.
Jesus, who is the great physician, came into this world to heal sick humanity. The sickness is sin and the sufferer is the sinner. The righteous, which have a right standing with God have no need of this physician but sinners do.
The scriptures tell us that “all have sinned because by one man sin entered the world and all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. “
Jesus came to call sinners to repentance and provide the gift of eternal life to all who believe in Him and receive the forgiveness of their sins.
Those who have received Him, and made Him Lord of their lives, have trusted in Him as their physician. He now works in and through us to heal the sick in this world.
We now have the responsibility to proclaim the message that no one needs to perish and go to hell, but that all may be saved and enjoy the forgiveness of sins through the cleansing blood of the Lord Jesus Christ and are in perfect spiritual health.
Dear heavenly Father, thank You for providing healing for the whole man, body, soul and spirit. Help me, by Your grace and the power of the Holy Spirit, to take the message of salvation to my family, friends and work associates, in Jesus’ Name
