Taste the Difference

“No one, having drunk old wine, immediately desires new, for he says, ‘The old is better.’”

- Luke 5:39

When Jesus turned water into wine at a wedding in Cana, Galilee, the taste of the wine, caused the director of the feast to say “that the best wine had been kept until last”.

Most people try to find meaning to their lives. In the search for last satisfaction and meaning they chase dreams and fantasies. Some chase wealth. Others want fame, and if they are good in music or sport, they get to see their name in lights.

Others go on spiritual quests, trying old religions and then chasing after every new spiritual fad that they hear about.

For many this quest for true meaning and satisfaction lasts a lifetime and finds no lasting fulfilment.  It’s like a winemaker growing the finest grapes and then once they are harvested and processed he has to wait years and years for it to reach full maturity before drinking it. Sometimes the winemaker dies before his prized wine matures!

But if people only turned to Christ and drank of the new wine of the Spirit they would be satisfied. Their search for meaning and purpose would be over. Experience what God does through the new birth and you are overwhelmed by the goodness of God.

Experience the wonderful and exhilarating experience of being baptised in the Holy Spirit and you can never ever be the same. When you experience a new life in Christ you never desire the old way of life. Life without Christ is filled with stress and anxiety.  There is no real satisfaction. Because you are a spirit living in a physical body, you can never be satisfied fully with physical experiences because God is a spirit and only He can fully satisfy the hunger within.

We were made by God, for Him, and only He can fully satisfy our deepest longings.

Dear heavenly Father, thank You for Your daily presence and help. I know without You I am, and can do nothing. Help me to impart what I have received from you to someone today, in Jesus’ Name.
