“Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, ‘Your sins are forgiven you’ or to say, ‘Arise, take up your bed and walk’? But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins.” - Mark 2:9, 10
Jesus asks the question regarding healing of the body and the forgiveness of sins, which is easier? Well, He did both.
Sin and sickness came into the world as a result of Adam’s sin and disobedience. The Bible says that by one man sin came into the world and death by sin and so death has passed upon all men for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
Sin and sickness go together. If there was no sin there would be no sickness. In Psalm 103:2 God says He forgives all our sins and heals all our diseases. These two great benefits, apart from others, flow from the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus.
He can, and will forgive all our sins upon our repentance as we believe on Him and confess that He is Lord. He can and will heal our bodies as we believe and accept Him as our healer. God can forgive the vilest sinner and He can heal the most dreaded illness. Neither is too hard for Him to do.
He does both as we believe and by faith receive them from Him. But we need to make sure our sins are forgiven and then we can trust God for the healing of our bodies.
Dear God and Father, thank You for these two great benefits that You have provided for me to enjoy so that I can be a whole person in body, soul and spirit.
