“Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My sake, and the gospel’s, who shall not receive a hundredfold now in this time - houses and brother, and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions - and in the age to come, eternal life.” - Mark 10:29-30
History is replete with those who have literally left all to serve Christ. Some of the early missionaries, who I knew, came to Africa, having left everything in their own country to serve God in a foreign land preaching the gospel of Christ.
There are those who, because of their faith in the Lord Jesus have been expelled and disinherited by their families and disowned by loved one. This is the price you pay if you move out of Judaism or Islam into the Christian faith.
The promise of Jesus cannot fail, and His provision is not for only a select few, but valid for all who obey Him. Leaving parents and children and possessions like real estate that may give a person a feeling of security, is not an easy decision, but being totally committed to Christ and the proclamation of the gospel is a cause that none other can exceed.
He is faithful, and has promised that in this life there will be a hundredfold return and in the age to come eternal life. You must face the fact, however, that there will be persecution and trials. Nothing worth having ever comes easily. Because of your love for Christ today there is no sacrifice that is too great.
Dear heavenly Father, thank You for Your great love that I cannot fully understand, but by Your help I am determined to serve you and help proclaim the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank You for those early missionaries that sacrificed all to serve the gospel.
