“For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.” - Matthew 24:27
Jesus illustrates His coming again to earth like a flash of lightning. His coming will be rapid, just like watching a bolt of lightning that flashes across a dark sky.
The meaning of this image indicates that Jesus will come at the speed of light. There will be no time to prepare anything then, no time to make changes, to preach or listen to another sermon. He will return to the earth in a split second.
What a moment that will be. And it will surely be “breaking news” on every television station around the world. His arrival back on earth will also mark the end of time, as we know it. The reality of eternity is upon us.
That should spur us to use what time we have left to win others to Christ and to make sure we are ready to meet Him.
Don’t put off things that you know you should do now. Make right with people you may have hurt. Don’t procrastinate any longer. Tell your wife and children you love them. Tell that relative or friend or neighbour that Jesus can save them.
Time is running out.
Queen Elizabeth I said on her deathbed, “All my possessions for just another moment.” She learnt the value of time too late.
To receive salvation with all of its many benefits is now. Don’t wait any longer to make Christ Saviour and Lord of your life.
Dear Father in heaven, help me to value the time You have allocated to me on this earth. Help me to use it wisely in serving You and being a blessing to my family and all whom I meet on a daily basis, in Jesus name.
