“Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.” - Matthew 25:23
When Jesus returns He will reward His servants. Records are kept of our works done for Him here on earth. We are not saved by these works - but when we are saved we are committed to labour for Him and are employed in the greatest activity in the world.
Each one us have been given certain gifts by God. Our talents and abilities may differ and we need to cherish what has been entrusted to each one of us. It’s no good envying someone else’s gift. If someone has a gift to play music and you are tone deaf, you are wasting your time and energy thinking you can become a musician. It’s not your gift.
When Jesus comes there will be a time of assessment with regard to what we did with the talents given us. The Lord looks for and expects development and growth. Our reward will depend upon it. Those who have been lazy, unproductive and wicked, like the unprofitable servant, will be cast into outer darkness and there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Those who have been faithful and served the Master with diligence will receive rewards accordingly. Today I understand that my service for God is not to be seen or praised by man but is unto God. I am accountable to Him because of the gifts He has given me. We work today with the goal in mind and hear Him say, “Well done good and faithful servant”.
Dear God and Father, thank You for the talents you have given me. By Your help I will faithfully employ what you have given me and use it to bring praise to Your name. Let me never envy others or neglect my gift, in the name of the Lord Jesus.
