Taking Care of Jesus
“For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.” - Matthew 25:35,36
There are many in our world that are hungry, without daily food and lack clean drinking water. There are those who lack clothing and tens of thousands of people are in prison. Famine and death stalk many lands. Thousands of children die from starvation and disease.
The Bible tells us we will have the poor with us always. Therefore we should do something about it. God says in His word, “He, who gives to the poor lends to the Lord”.
The gospel is to be preached to the poor. It is good news to the poor who, through Jesus Christ, can be lifted out of a state of poverty into a life of hope and provision through the Lord Jesus Christ. This is the gospel of love in action, bringing the new birth and the possibility of social change, as people look to God to change their situation.
This is true Christianity and is noted by the King of Kings as being done to Him for He continues to say, Assuredly, I say to you inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren you did it to me”.
Dear heavenly Father, thank You for reminding me of those in need and who are hurting. Help me to see them today through Your eyes and help me to make a difference in the lives of the poor, in the name of the Lord Jesus.
