“Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.’” - Matthew 25:34
The kingdom of God will be established at Jesus return, when the kingdom’s of this world become the kingdoms of Christ. There has been a progression of this theme through the centuries. God called out a people and established them as the nation of Israel. Saul was the first king appointed to rule over them and he was followed by a series of successors.
Israel was a powerful kingdom at one time but became rebellious and disobedient to God and because of sin, the kingdom of Israel waned.
The kingdom of Israel was at its lowest ebb when Jesus was born. They were oppressed by the Romans and longed for the restoration of Israel to its former glory.
Many hoped Jesus would be their king and lead them in driving out the forces of Rome. Jesus said, “If my kingdom were of this world then I would fight”.
But Jesus came to establish firstly His kingdom in the hearts of man. His kingdom is not meat and drink, but righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost. When He returns the kingdoms of this world become the kingdom of Christ and will be visible and literal.
Dear heavenly Father, thank You for Your kingdom that is established in my heart in preparation for Your visible, literal and eternal kingdom that will be established on this earth. I look forward with joy and anticipation to that great day, in the name of the Lord Jesus.
