Taken or Left Behind?
“Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left. Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming.”
- Matthew 24:40-42
These verses describe the daily chores of life with people going about their jobs like they always do. Then, suddenly something dramatic takes place. It’s not an earthquake or any natural disaster. No, this is something supernatural. It is the return of the Lord Jesus Christ to the earth.
We read in Genesis that Noah and his family were safe in the ark when it began to rain and the earth was flooded. They were carried by the ark above the destruction that wiped out every living creature. Noah’s family was the only one left after the flood.
At the time of His coming nations will be gathered against the nation of Israel, many will be killed while others will not. Jesus emphasises the importance of being prepared and being watchful.
Jesus will care for us, but we need to always be on our guard so that you are always prepared and ready to meet God.
Those who heeded Jesus’ warning were safe when the Romans invaded Jerusalem. Noah and his family were saved because they followed God’s instructions. Don’t take God’s word lightly. Follow its instructions and you will reap an abundant life and live with Christ for eternity.
Dear Father, in the name of the Lord Jesus, I thank You for my safety and security in You. By Your help I will ever be watchful and on my guard and treasure Your word.
