Enduring words

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.”

- Matthew 24:35

We live in a world of constant change - nothing stays the same with time. The heavens, which declare the glory of God and the earth Jesus says, “Will pass away”. Everything material ultimately will disappear but the words of Jesus are everlasting.

This is one of the reasons why we should place so much importance on His words. The predictions of Jesus regarding future events will be fulfilled in every detail. Some of the things He said would happen have already come to pass, so it is obvious that whatever is still outstanding will be fulfilled in absolute detail. He and His Word is united, you cannot separate Him from His word.

Men’s words may fail and often do with broken promises never fulfilled, but the promises of Jesus are always kept. We can depend on His word.

How often have we had the experience of accepting and believing someone’s word and been bitterly disappointed when they failed to deliver? It is not so with Jesus because He is bound by His own word because God cannot lie. He can never go back on his word. It is part of God’s infinite character that embraces all things that are true and righteous.

Therefore our attitude should simply be, “He has said it. I believe it and that settles it.”

Dear heavenly Father thank You for the understanding of what is to happen in the days to come. You have not left us in the dark, so by Your help I face today, and each day, without fear and in complete trust in You and Your word, in the name of the Lord Jesus.
